How to Get to Llyn Crafnant

Llyn Crafnant (postcode: LL27 0JZ) is located near Trefriw, around 3 miles from Betws-y-Coed. Follow the narrow, winding road from the village of Trefriw up to the lake. There’s a small car park near the lake and limited parking along the roadside. Public transport options are limited, so driving is recommended.

A Bit of Llyn Crafnant History

Llyn Crafnant is a natural glacial lake, but its current size was increased by a dam built to supply water to the town of Llanrwst. The area is steeped in local legend, with tales of fairies and hidden treasures said to reside in the depths of the lake. The name “Crafnant” is thought to derive from the Welsh for “valley of garlic,” hinting at the wild garlic that blooms nearby in spring.
