Garnedd Ugain: Yr Wyddfa’s Towering Neighbour

Standing proudly at 1,065 metres, Garnedd Ugain (also known as Crib y Ddysgl) is the second-highest mountain in Wales and a spectacular peak in its own right. Overshadowed only slightly by nearby Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), it offers equally dramatic views and an unforgettable ridgeline experience. With rocky slopes and breathtaking drops, Garnedd Ugain is ideal for adventurous hikers looking to take on one of Eryri’s most thrilling climbs.

Crags, Ridges & Panoramas

Garnedd Ugain forms part of the famous Crib Goch to Snowdon ridge route, a dramatic, narrow ridgeline that demands a head for heights and sure-footedness. Its steep flanks and broken crags offer a more rugged challenge than neighbouring peaks, but the rewards are immense. On a clear day, you’ll get sweeping views over the Snowdon Massif, the Glyderau, and even across to Anglesey.

Snowdon’s varied routes mean there’s something for everyone, from leisurely walkers to seasoned hikers. Whether you’re taking the popular Llanberis Path or tackling the exhilarating Crib Goch ridge, each ascent is rewarding in its own way. Reaching the summit is not just about the view; it’s about the journey, the effort, and the stories you’ll tell after.
