Your guide to Eryri

Find your next day outside

Walking inspiration for Eryri, from lakeside discoveries to mountain days.

Choose your adventure carefully

Choose a walk for the day you want to have: a village stroll, woodland time or a demanding mountain outing. Match the route to your group’s experience and the conditions, then check the official route information before setting off.

Village and woodland walks

Betws-y-Coed is a useful place to start. The National Park’s Betws-y-Coed Bridges route is graded Easy; the local visitor guide also describes walks towards Llyn Elsi and beside the river. Woodland paths can still involve steep climbs and uneven ground.

Estuary views around Dolgellau

The Mawddach Trail follows a former railway beside the estuary between Dolgellau and Barmouth. You can plan a shorter out-and-back visit rather than the whole trail; check access and your return journey before travelling.

Mountain days on Yr Wyddfa

The Llanberis Path is one of six main summit routes. The National Park grades it Hard/Strenuous: its gradual profile does not make it an easy walk. Navigation skills, suitable equipment and a mountain forecast are essential. Winter conditions can require specialist skills and equipment.

Plan your route

Use the National Park’s official walks directory for grading and route details, and the official Llanberis Path guide for summit information. This page is inspiration, not a navigation guide.
